neco_arc PALWORLD! neco_arc Hikari3 is cordially invited to Kissu's Palworld... world! When the server is up it will be pals.kissu.moe:8211 If you somehow haven't heard of Palworld, it's an open-world crafting survival game (seems people compare it to Ark but I haven't played that) where you capture Pals and build bases, explore, and do a bunch of other stuff which is too exhaustive to describe here. It's an addictively fun game! It's not the traditional multiplayer game in that you largely do your own thing. You can choose to join guilds with other players and share a base, but that does unfortunately mean that the base-building guided tutorial "breaks" so I wouldn't recommend it for a first playthrough. The multiplayer aspect is seeing other player's bases out in the world or occasionally running into them. You can also trade stuff or chat of course. The world largely doesn't change, so you can start today or in 2 weeks and not miss out on anything. Hope to see you there!

>>

>>1541 That's the crazy thing, it should be a low quality game because you think "oh a Pokemon ripoff" but it's actually really good! It started off as a "Pokemon but edgy" thing, but they quickly realized that people like cute and happy Pals more than "lol he's sad and forced to dig ore" so they pivoted heavily into stuff like, well, now you can even sleep with them. No, get your head out of the gutter, I just mean in the same bed!

I got Victoria 3 on sale recently from Steam. Does anyone else play this game? The only other Paradox game I played before this was Hearts of Iron 4 and while Victoria 3 seems much more complicated, I think that this is a good thing. So far, I've been playing as Dai Nam (modern day Vietnam) and its pretty fun feuding with Thailand and Burma happy Once I get this game down better, I want to start as Sokoto and take over Africa and minimize the European influence in the continent.

Do you still use CRT monitors? I do

>>

I don't even own a flatscreen display (besides the ones built into my PSP and gameboys)

>>

>>1521 Curved monitors are gay hikarinannoyed

>>

is there a big difference in quality between the tvs and monitors?

>>

>>1551 monitors usually have higher resolution and more importantly higher horizontal frequency. a late sony trinitron can go up to 1600x1200 90@Hz vertical @90Khz horizontal but can't go as low as let's say 320x240 @31Khz horizontal, which is what console usually had as resolution until 6th gen. horizontal frequency is also important for scan lines iirc, so that's why it's usually better to get a tv for consoles and a monitor for games that were on PC if you care about experiencing stuff the way it was. There's also a big difference between europe and US/JP, the former has the worst quality with most tvs being either composite (up to 480i) or SCART (up to 576i for some weird reason), the latter often had component (better colors, progressive output). So if you have an older console for example and you're in europe you likely played it with the worst quality. As for why this happened i have no clue but it's pretty dumb, i have to guess regulations.

>>

>>1551 tv is a monitor + software and/or hardware to watch porn monitor is monitor - it displays shit. though modern monitors do have some fancy ass shitware iirc annoyed >>1554 interesting point. good thing i don't buy tvs huhhappy

All of the storage was lightly used, but passes monthly scrubs and checks. I'm just about to build a NAS with some leftover parts from an old upgrade, some new parts, and the disks out of my current NAS 7900X3D 64GB DDR5 (I'll probably run it at 4800MT/s) 4x 20TB HDD in ZFS Z1 (I have an off-site backup) 6.4TB NVMe (PCIe 4.0 x8) for L2ARC 1.92TB NVMe (PCIe 3.0 x4) for SLOG (maybe, not sure) With the recent changes to L2ARC persistence and block size in TrueNAS, I intend to basically warm my L2ARC for a couple months, and then just basically never hit my disks again. My seeding torrents will probably fit entirely within L2ARC, as will a lot of my media library. In theory I get the benefit of a 52TB array with one disk redundancy, with the speed of NVMe for reads. I know SMB doesn't do sync writes, so my SLOG won't help there, but I have some VMs and containers using NFS shares which I think does? Normally so sync writes.

Earlier today I saw the most beautiful girl ever. She was like a painting, brunette with dark eyes, average sized lips, nose, forehead etc. She was basically perfect by all beauty standards, I can't describe the shape of her body, or her face, or even the length of the hair because for the brief moment that she passed by I was completely lost in her eyes, which were gazing back at mine... While we looked at each other her tongue slipped from the right corner of her mouth the left, between the otherwise shut lips, I mean WOAH dude, I smiled, she broke eye contact and went her way. She couldn't have been older than 19. I probably wouldn't recognize her, I am not good with faces, women are all similar within their ethnicity too. On the other hand I think I am a little more memorable? If anything the bloodshot eyes from sleep deprivation and serial killer smile... Later today I finally returned home from this 3-day trip half of the country away, I looked at myself in the mirror and it reminded me that you know, I sort of fit the "out of a painting" look too. I probably just lost my soulmate or something of the sort hikari3 cry It doesn't help that I am a hopeless romantic mess down... REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Pic is not related.

Have you ever met an Amish person in real life? There's a ton of Amish people where I live in the Midwest, USA. When I was a kid living in a rural area, I can very specifically remembering going to the Amish villages to buy farm groceries like milk, butter and eggs. I remember the kids there seeming incredibly uptight and they just worked with their animals. The Amish are also known for their excellent skills at building, one of my relatives just recently bought a shed built by an Amish community near him and he spent 10 minutes comparing it to the Home Depot sheds and why the Amish built one is so much better. At least where I am from, the Amish have nearly a perfect reputation and they are loved and respected by pretty much everyone. Thread Theme: https://youtu.be/lOfZLb33uCg

ohayou hikarins! as you can tell, the site rewrite is live! isn't it great? the dev team put lots of work and lots of love into this project so let's be sure to give them our thanks. in this thread, please report any issues, bugs, comments, questions, or concerns regarding the new site. i will also take the time to highlight some of the major changes and additions since Syrno is a lazy fuck refrained from doing so in the announcement. note that the rules have been updated, so be sure to give them another read. New Additions: - new imageboard software! as stated in the announcement, Hikari3 has changed from using Lynxchan to Koshi, a new imageboard software made in-house. the source code can be found here: https://github.com/hikari3-ch/koshi (that is, once the repo is made public). this in itself comes with many improvements, especially under the hood. i'm just a janny so i'm not qualified to list them all, but i can assure you Koshi is pretty great. - new and improved homepage! the homepage has been updated with a few new features. the new layout includes a new Featured Threads section, which is pretty self explanatory. hand-picked by (usually) Syrno. at the bottom, there is also an Other Threads section, which will randomly select threads from the SFW boards to showcase. 素敵ですね? - new 2D Ero board! a new board has been added for 2D ero images, aka hentai. please be sure to read the rules. note that posts made on this board do not appear in the Latest Posts or Other Threads section on the homepage. this board has been added in place of the Oekaki board, but don't worry! the ability to create your own masterpieces lives on. i'll talk about this later. - board statistics! https://files.catbox.moe/ewber2.PNG you can now check the board statistics, a panel that shows activity for each board. this can be found through the button directly to the left of the "Submit a Thread" button on the sidebar. - upgraded posting! https://files.catbox.moe/ltv2gv.PNG there are a few new options and QOL improvements in the posting menu. for one, you can now make new posts from the bottom of the thread. the quick reply panel also now has the emote dropdown menu for your convenience. the "Submit a Thread" button at the top of the sidebar will bring you to a new thread page where you can more elaborately create threads. using either the new thread page or the reply section at the bottom of the thread gives you the option to embed YouTube videos, create polls, and draw your own images! oekaki reborn on every board! - new CSS themes! there are some new CSS themes to spice up your browsing experience beyond the standard hikari3 color palette. feel free to check them out! i personally am using Catppuccin Macchiato. beyond this, there are other new features and changes for you to discover. we hope you enjoy the new site! happy posting.

I'm looking for a free VPS with Debian 12 Linux full admin to set up an imageboard, but I don't think there is one. I'm tired of searching, so I'd better turn to this imageboard to see what you can recommend.

>>

>free Linux VPS with full admin access laugh https://terminator.aeza.net/en/ alright i don't want to be a dick nya i don't really think you can do this, other than the numerous "free" cloud tiers that will ask you for your card then turn up a bill for your bandwidth. there are things like tilde.club (can't remember others) but besides always being available on a community/as-is/if-i'm-jiving-with-it basis they are also, uh, all non-root. honestly, if you waltz around lowendbox/lowendtalk for a suitable KVM, reading carefully, and spend A DOLLAR per month for actual service from a small-to-medium provider you could walk away with something pretty nice. alternatively, https://www.nearlyfreespeech.net/services/hosting, or tunnel through cf from your home machine shades

Have you tried any Peer to Peer E2EE messaging program? Some examples would include Briar, Cwtch and OnionShare. In the past, I didn't like these types of messaging programs because they require both users to be online at the same time in order to function, but these days this fits my use case better. I've heard that by using Briar, you can communicate over Bluetooth which is pretty cool

hey Hikarins. i want to talk about alternative browsers: which ones you like, which ones you dislike, which ones you think are interesting, whatever. we all know about Ungoogled Chromium, Librewolf and Pale Moon, so although discussion of those browsers is fine, i really wanna see some niche stuff. bonus points for browsers that function on the modern web or browsers that have weird designs or usecases. this is also a good opportunity to talk about projects that push away from Google's domination of the browser market through Chromium and their proxy Mozilla. my browser to start this thread is Basilisk. used to be owned by the Male Poon team but now is independent. runs a similar codebase to PM but has some modern technologies like WebRTC and such. from what i can tell it seems to function fine as a modern browser, and although it's lacking in extensions/themes it has the necessities like adblock, userscripts, etc. i'd consider this as pretty independent from Google/Mozilla as far as functioning browsers go since the codebase is based on old Firefox.

>>

not that niche but i like qutebrowser cry its not good for extensions but i enjoy its simplicity and being able to mold it to your liking

>>

Luakit shades it's free, GPLv3 licensed, written in Lua and C, and the devs are nice. I have also written a few extensions for it; a redirector, a work-in-progress uMatrix fork (4th or 5th iteration, I keep running into problems) unlike Qutebrowser, which has an asshole dev that doesn't care about your security angryangry (see https://github.com/qutebrowser/qutebrowser/issues/7777) for the issue, tldr; WebGL remained available to sites even though I disabled it, and the dev just dismissed it like it was no problem annoyed2)

>>

>>1483 I self compiled Basilisk, to use system-libs wherever possible, as Serpent. I even wrote and maintained an ebuild for it for about a year. Ended up leaving it because of how openly hostile towards the use of system libraries Moonchild and his two lackies are. I remember asking for help at one point because something changed in the build process that broke my ebuild, but the error message wasn't helpful (at least to me; I cam fix scripts and bits of code sometimes, but I'm not a browser programmer). I asked a question, and then got laid into for my "unauthorized" ebuild. This was a little before Moonchild and his lackies lost their shit on some *BSD repo that had "unauthorized" ports, which led to even more drama. I think one of his buddies even lamented that the codebase was opensource, and expressed admiration for how MS used to handle code. I probably won't go back to it, now that I am using and am happy with Librewolf, but I am glad to hear it is an independent project now.\ In the past I used to use SeaMonkey (sad it doesn't get more love), Midori (the old one), and even used Kazehakase (sp?) for a while WAAAAAYYYYY back.

What are you reading? I'm a few chapters into pic related, In Search of the Tuareg and its really good so far, its a collection of first person stories from the author during his time in Tuareg areas of Africa from the 1970s-2010s >One of the similarities between the Tuareg and the desert tribes of southern Morocco was the love of fat women. Families put a lot of effort in encouraging their daughters to eat as much as possible. A thin girl shamed the family, especially once they were old enough to marry around the age of 15 >Recently, particularly in big cities, Western fast food joints selling pizzas and burgers had been found to be effective fattening tools. >When eating vast amounts of rich foods didn't have the desired effect, families used modern medication and hormones. According to a local press report, teenage girls were even given cattle-fattening drugs. >Many Tuareg women were so fat they could barely perform household tasks. Even walking was difficult. Previously, this had not been a problem as almost all Tuareg families owned slaves. Nowadays life was less easy and fat women were forced to hire domestic workers, a costly business
